Homework Help

Homework Help has been created to help children, parents and carers identify sites on the Internet which we believe will provide helpful hints and advice. It uses the facilities set up by another Kent School which received professional advice and assistance from the Local Authority to design and create it’s website. We are very grateful to Woodlands Junior School for allowing us to be a partner in their enterprise.

Our children are usually given homework each week. If you have any questions about the content, please ask your child’s class teacher.

It really boosts children’s learning if they receive some extra help at home. Here are a few ideas you might like to try.

We encourage parents to listen to children’s reading at home, reading just a few pages together really helps:

  • Why not ask them a few questions to check their understanding of what they have read?
  • They could also write a book review to tell others what they think of the book.
  • Ask them to design a new cover for their book based on what they have read so far.

Ask your child a few extra mental maths questions to review their numeracy skills:

  • Can they calculate the change from your last shopping bill?
  • Can they work out how long TV programmes last by looking at the TV guide?
  • How long does it take them to recite / write down their times tables?
  • Click here for the Calculation Policy
